Nominations and Elections
Section 1. The BBCA Board of Directors shall consist of eight (8) members. Each year, four (4) members will he elected to the Board, and four (4) shall retire. Terms of office for the BBCA Board will he two (2) years. Any retiring Board member shall choose to run for reelection.
Section 2. In order to qualify for nomination as a Director for the BBCA, a member must be in good standing for six (6) months prior to nomination. A special nominating committee, selected by the President, and consisting of at least three BBCA members
in good standing, shall compile a list of members in good standing who have indicated a willingness to serve if elected. A minimum of six (6) names must be selected for each four (4) vacancies. A Ballot continuing these names must be mailed to the membership fourteen (4) days before the Election meeting, usually held in December. Floor nominations will be accepted at the election meeting provided the nominee has agreed to serve.
Section 3. The Secretary shall prepare the election ballot, then have it certified by the nomination committee. The ballot shall include the nominated members, and shall room to insert members names who are floor nominated. The secretary shall mail these ballots to all members in good standing.
Section 4. Ballots may be returned to the BBCA by mail. Each ballot returned by mail must have the member’s name clearly printed on the ballot, and the ballot must he signed by the member. Ballots not so returned will he declared invalid and will not be counted. Ballots may also he deposited in the ballot box at the Election meeting. It is require that members print their name on the ballot. The ballot box will be in clear view of the membership, and shall remain open for one-half (1/2) hour during the meeting. At the end of that time, the Treasurer will verify each name as a member in good standing, and will have only those ballots meeting this requirement counted by the Nomination Committee. The ballots will he tallied and the results shared with the membership. The top vote getters in descending order will fill each vacancy. Upon acceptance of the report, the committee shall declare the new Board of Directors elected. The list of members voting and the tally list of final vote numbers will be made available to anyone requesting either list in writing.
